The course deals with themes such as the labour market, poverty and exclusion, migration and homelessness as well as sustainable welfare and eco-social policies. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, workshops as well as individual studies.

The course is mandatory for social work students enrolled in the Master of Science Programme in Welfare Policies and Management. The course is also offered as a single subject course in Social Work at the second-cycle level. Students come from different countries and backgrounds and this provides an interesting and inspiring course atmosphere. The exchange of different experiences is an important part of the learning process.
