Research
With an interest in how people, social problems and social problem solutions are described in texts and conversations, I have investigated different contexts (e.g. the justice system, health care, social services). Themes of morality and social control are often recurrent in my research, for example in ambiguous cultural phenomena such as paid parenting (foster homes) and how one can both be strongly negative to increased administration and at the same time contribute to its growth. I also have an epistemological interest in the development of social work as an academic discipline.
Teaching
I mainly teach qualitative methods, especially ethnography. I supervise students and doctoral students and examine theses.
