Migration and Mobility
The research area's overall purpose is to develop a subject-specific migration research by studying how social work is conceptualized in migration-related issues, which interventions it gives rise to both within the framework of the established welfare institutions and beyond these institutionalized forms.
Developing discipline-specific migration research is an overall aim of this research group. More specifically, we intend to study how social work is conceptualized in migration-related issues, which interventions it causes both within the established welfare institutions and beyond institutionalized forms. We also discuss how the migration phenomenon challenges established institutions, not least the significance and boundaries of the national welfare state , and questions the basic premise of knowledge in the understanding of social life and in the extension of social work.
The senior researchers and PhD students included in this group are working on their own research projects and participate in both international and national research groups and networks that work around the theme of migration. We are also active in newly formed networks with specific focuses on migration and social work.
