Vocational training, labor market and living conditions
For several years now, this well-established research group has focused on issues relating to vocational education, young people's living conditions and problems with establishment on the labor market. Several research council-funded projects have been carried out at the School of Social Work and the Department of Economic History.
The research group includes researchers and PhD students from several universities in Sweden and the Nordic countries. In addition, the research group collaborates with investigators, government and representatives at a local level.
The researchers who have participated in the research group's seminars and conferences today work with the following issues, among others:
- The relationship between general and specific education
- Qualification requirements and learning in working life
- The responsibility and interest of labor market organizations in vocational learning
- The socially and gender-sorting functions of upper secondary education
- The social and socio-economic significance of vocational education / an alternative to a deregulated labor market
- The Swedish gymnasium education in the light of educational models in other countries
- Flow-through problems in gymnasium and the causes and effects of long-term social assistance dependence
- Validation of competence and the students' approach when applying to gymnasium
