Funds to the School of Social Work for international collaboration

Små skott i motljus.

The EUGLOH Seed Money Programme aims to enable teachers to create new joint learning pathways, and together with UiT Norges arktiske universitet, The School of Social Work now has been funded to proceed with the student activity “The Field of Practice and the professional role”.

Teachers Roberto Scaramuzzino and Maria Bergendal Arvidsson, together with International coordinator Anneli Nielsen, are happy about the money and looking forward to starting the activity “The Field of Practice and the professional role”.

The participating students are studying to become social workers and are at the beginning of their education (1st and 2nd semester). They have had their first field experience in the education program through field visits and short internships organized through the respective departments.

The Seed Money Programme for Collaborative Online International Learning  (COIL) aims to allow the students to reflect on the field of practice and the profession they will become part of and to compare across different cultural, political, socio-demographic, and organizational contexts. Their participation is grounded in their early encounters and experiences in the field of practice and profession and informed by reading relevant literature.

The learning outcomes include:

  1. To describe the social work practice in a different context,
  2. To reflect on the social work practice in the own country in relation to another context,
  3. To critically reflect on how different cultural, political, socio-demographic, and organizational contexts influence the practice of social work.

The assessment will be based on the contribution of the students to the seminars’ discussions and a written paper. Both the seminars and the paper will be collaborative activities with students from both universities. The assessment of the students will be done by each university separately.

The workload for the students will be two weeks of full-time studies corresponding to 3 ECTS.

Congratulations, to both teachers and students!
